| This lion guards the entryway to my house. It is not a gryphon, as many believe, but a lion of St. Mark, the emblem of Venice. The head is made of cast concrete, with inset glass eyes of the kind used by taxidermists. I like to watch little children on their way to the playground stop and pet his nose or slyly put a hand in his mouth. | |||||||||
